2008 Shelby GT "Barrett-Jackson" Edition Mustang Unveiled Today
If you're having a hard time recalling all the special-edition Mustangs for 2008, join the club. Here's another one for your list. In a press release issued today, Ford Motor Company, Barrett-Jackson Auction Company, and Shelby Automobiles have collaborated to create a limited edition 2008 Mustang Shelby GT.
According to the release, this special-edition GT has a starting price of $38,980, with only 100 total units to be produced. The car will be available in both coupe and convertible versions, and is only available through Arizona Region Ford dealers. $250 from each purchase goes to the Carroll Shelby Children's Foundation.
This GT's engine is upgraded with a Ford Racing package, outputting an estimated 319 hp and 330 lbs.-ft. of torque through a high-flow exhaust system with X-pipe crossover. Additional features include a five-speed manual transmission featuring a Hurst short-throw shifter or an optional five-speed automatic transmission. The package includes a Ford Racing Handling Pack with special-tuned dampers, unique sway bars and a 3.55:1 ratio rear axle assembly. Overall ride height was dropped and a front strut-tower brace added.
You can check the vehicle out at the Arizona International Auto Show through Sunday, November 25.
