A 1964 1/2 Mustang or $20,000: I'll Take the Mustang

Tuesday December 11, 2007
1964 1/2 Ford MustangSpecial thanks to Sandra, our Guide to Contests and Sweepstakes, for alerting me of another Mustang Giveaway. Motormint, the maker of classic die-cast cars, die-cast models, and model kits will give one lucky winner their choice of a 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang or $20,000 cash. I don't know about you, but I'll take the Mustang. The Motormint - $100,000 Sweepstakes Giveaway ends on April 17th, 2008, coinciding with the 44th anniversary of the Mustang's debut at the World’s Fair in Flushing Meadows, New York. Other prizes include National Motor Museum Mint die-cast cars and gift certificates. So tell me, would you take the cash or would you take the Mustang?

For $20k you could probably buy a sweet Fox Body in mint condition. But after taxes, you’re looking at $10k. That won’t buy much. I’d take the Mustang.

50% taxes would be pretty high – and you’d have to pay taxes on the Mustang, too (and without any cash to defray the cost). I’d take the cash, but I’d definitely regret not driving away in the Mustang!
