Time to Change the Oil

Sunday July 6, 2008
Amsoil OilJust as there are many joys of Mustang ownership, there are responsiblities. Oil changes rank high on the list. Although some people dread changing their oil, I actually look forward to it. In fact, this weekend I spent some time out in the garage changing my Mustang's oil. The hardest part of the job is always getting the car up on the ramps. They tend to slide forward when you drive onto them. Word of advice. If you have to use ramps on a slick surface like garage flooring, put non-skid rubber door mats beneath them. This will prevent them from moving forward when you roll onto them. Works like a charm every time.

As for the change, I decided to give Amsoil Signature Series Synthetic motor oil a shot this go around. I'm generally a Mobile 1 Synthetic guy, but I've heard good things about Amsoil and want to see how it works. In all fairness, I also used the company's oil filter. We'll give it 90 days to see if the product provides any notable performance gains. Results to follow.
