Ford Reveals a New Pony Emblem For the 2010 Mustang

Wednesday August 27, 2008
Okay, so we've yet to see what the upcoming 2010 Mustang will look like. That said, Ford is getting really good at showing bits and pieces of the car. Today they revealed a new Pony Emblem to appear on the 2010 Mustang. Using the photo to the right as an example, the 2009 Ford Mustang Pony emblem appears below, while the more aggressive looking emblem up top is what will appear on the revised 2010 Pony Car.

In a press release issued by Ford, Douglas Gaffka, chief designer for the 2010 Mustang said, "We wanted to give the Mustang pony a more realistic feel." George Saridakis, Design manager for the 2010 Mustang added, "It’s just a faster-looking steed."

As for changes, the new emblem features more defined edges than its current counterpart. It also features a subtly toned tinted-chrome finish. The emblems will appear on the grilles of 2010 V6 and GT Mustangs. “We lifted the head to make the pony more proud, tipped the neck into the wind to give it a feeling of greater speed and better balance,” said Gaffka. He added, “It’s more chiseled and more defined and looks more like a wild horse. It’s more realistic in terms of proportion to an actual Mustang.” Most interesting is that a black-chrome version of the Mustang pony badge will adorn 2010 GT Mustangs. This will be a first for the Mustang.

Up next is the 2010 Mustang's unveiling at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. I'll definitely be there.
