Shelby 427 NASCAR Sprint Cup Event Announced

Today Shelby Automobiles announced they will host a "Shelby 427" NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 1, 2009. To commemorate the classic Cobra 427, the event will be lengthened to 427 miles. Carroll Shelby was on hand to deliver the announcement to attendes of the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Racing and Shelby have always gone hand in hand. I'd be lying if I told you I wasn't excited to hear the news of this NASCAR/Shelby collaboration. As such, the first call I made after the announcement was to my travel agent. Looks like I'll be back in Vegas next March.

As part of this collaboration, Shelby will produce a Las Vegas Motor Speedway Limited Edition Shelby 427 package for the Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang. According to Shelby, owners of 2007 or 2008 Shelby GT500s, with an existing post title Super Snake package, can purchase the limited edition "pace car” upgrade on a first-come, first-served basis by e-mailing shelby427@lvms.com. Only 427 of the packages will be made available.
