On Friday the Ford Mustang will celebrate its 45th Anniversary. In honor of this historic event, we'll go back in time to visit each of the Mustang's five generations throughout the week. Speaking of Mustang generations, which was your favorite? Was it the first generation with its classic pony cars or possibly the third generation with its Fox Body line up? Vote today for your favorite Ford Mustang.

(1) HAWAIIAN DON says:

The 1st generation always defines the genre, kinda like Sean Connery defining oo7, so it’s usually the older guys like me (56) that owned and drove the various models over the years that seem to appreciate the first ones for what the car was meant to be. I owned 3 Stangs:
1)1969 Mach 1, 428cj, shaker scoop,etc
2)1985 Mustang GT 5.0 HO
3)1988 Mustang GT 5.0 HO

The 1969 BOSS 302 was the greatest Mustang EVER…PERIOD! The sweetest body style was the 1967…the most fun to drive was the 85 GT…but that’s only my opinion!

I completely agree. The BOSS 302, Mach 1, the K-Codes, we’re talking Mustang at its best!

The 87 5.0 mustang was the fastest stock at 14.4 quarter time until the 1996 cobra came around running 14.0. Personally the 3rd Gen fuel injected 87-93 models have the most potential! Unless you buy a 03 cobra for 15,000. put 15,000 in a fox body youll run 10′s if not 9′s! The 71 boss 351 was and is still in fact the best cam in block small block, oonly problem is the 71 boss 351 mustang is too heavy! Get a lx notchback 5.0 at 2800 lbs curb weight with 3,000 into it youll run 13′s in the hundred mph club!
