Update January 25, 2013: Event is on Again
On Wednesday, Mustangs Across America announced their 50th Anniversary run will no longer take place due to logistics in event locations. If you recall, Mustangs Across America is a group road trip, featuring some of the sharpest looking Mustangs out there. In all, it consists of days on the road with other enthusiasts, followed by daily activities in different towns across the country.
In the past, Mustangs Across America has attracted Mustang enthusiasts from all over the world. In fact, the group's 40th Anniversary Drive was the largest convoy of Mustangs to cross the United States. Unfortunately with two Mustang Club of America 50th Anniversary locations scheduled for 2014, the group would be split as to which location they would attend.
In a statement issued on their site this week, Mustangs Across America said, "Because of this, the importance of the destination is lost and confused, making many in the international and national Mustang community forced to choose one over the other. The model of the Mustangs Across America drives is one that typically travels from one side of the country to the other, helping to promote the one big show and create the largest Mustang caravan ever with each Anniversary."
I was one of many looking forward to another Mustang enthusiast road trip across this great nation of ours. Truly unfortunate, but completely understandable given the circumstances.
