One of the many companies attending this year's SEMA Show in Las Vegas is Retrobuilt, based out of Lamar, Missouri. The company is known for taking classic Mustang components and infusing them into modern day rides. Brian Brewer, of Retrobuilt, says customers must first purchase a donor vehicle. The car is then converted into a modern-day classic, using parts from classic Mustangs fitted into the existing late-model car. In addition, the company's Shelby program, and their GT500CS Mustang, is authorized by Shelby American.
The company explains, "For a true retro concept, our cars have authentic metal bumpers, door handles, rear window louvers, and original type mirrors and side marker lights. We even handcraft the stainless steel trim on the front end of every car. There are countless custom features that make our car a true 'Retro built' automobile, in high demand in the auto industry today."
No doubt, I was pretty impressed at the two cars Retrobuilt had at this year's show. And to be honest, I wasn't the only one. Quite a few folks were surprised to find these are actually late model Mustangs, not modified classics.
