Word is Ford's recently renamed luxury division, Lincoln Motor Company, may be eyeing the creation of a Mustang-based coupe for their vehicle line up. A luxury Mustang? What a thought.  News of this comes to us via Ford Inside News. Reports are the vehicle would be a rear-wheel drive coupe powered by a 2.9L V6 EcoBoost Engine. It would also have a much larger wheelbase, to separate it from the Ford Mustang model. Read more.

Looking at the picture, it brings to mind what the Thunderbird of 2002-2005 might look like now if it had continued. Especially around the A-pillar. Car looks nice in the pic, but that doesn’t always translate to the actual model.

Ford needs to decide what they want the car to be. A luxury cruiser? Sports-luxury? Competitor to the Cadillac CTS and CTS-V? It seems like when they try to have a car be all things to all people they miss the mark, and miss it badly.

Whatever they do, the car needs to have more than just “adequate” power, and be of high quality. The mid-2000′s T-Bird was underpowered, overweight, and flexed like a bendy-straw over uneven pavement.
