This week Ford released their year-end sales figures for the Ford Mustang. I'm happy to report Ford sold 17.8 percent more Mustangs in 2012 than they did in 2011. Last year, the company sold a total of 82,995 Mustangs. In 2011, the company sold 70,438.
As for the month of December, Ford moved 5,537 Mustangs. I'm hoping some of those were Christmas presents! In December of 2011, Ford sold 5,057 Mustangs. That's a year-over-year increase of 9.5 percent.
"Ford finished 2012 strong, with retail sales showing improved strength as more customers returned to dealer showrooms," said Ken Czubay, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service.
As for the competition, the Chevrolet Camaro edged out the Mustang in total yearly sales in 2012 by moving 84,391 total Camaros. In December, the company sold 5,837 Camaros, once again, slightly more cars than Mustang. As for Dodge, the company sold 3,942 Challengers in December 2012. In all the company sold 43,119 for the year.
