Ford plans to release a 2014 1/2 Ford Mustang? Well, that's what some folks are saying. According to Mustangs Daily, Ford plans to produce 1,000 of these limited edition Mustangs, to be released as early 2015 models. These Anniversary edition Mustangs would pay homage to the classic Mustangs coined "1964 1/2" by enthusiasts and historians.
Sources say the 2014 1/2 Mustang would be based on the upcoming S550 platform, which is predicted to debut at the New York International Auto Show next April. The Anniversary edition Mustangs would feature a special VIN and build number. Aside from that, it's said they would be exactly the same as their 2015 model year counterparts.
I'll be holding tight until I see something solid. As most enthusiasts are aware, the first model year for the Mustang was 1965. The 1964 1/2 Mustangs were really just 1965 Mustangs produced between March and July of 1964. These early 1965 Mustangs were slightly different from those produced later on, but "technically" they are all 1965 Mustangs.
