Authorities Seize Mustangs in Texas
According to an article Wednesday in AutoWeek, authorities in Farmer's Branch, Texas have seized more than 60 vintage cars at Unique Performance, a shop known around the world for restoring classic Shelby Mustangs. AutoWeek goes on to state that the vehicles were confiscated due to "improper vehicle identification numbers on cars undergoing makeovers."
In a separate report, CBS 11 TV in Dallas/Fort Worth further elaborated by stating that VIN Numbers had been scratched off the vehicles which were in the process of being restored for customers who sometimes paid more than $200,000 for the work. If proven fraudulent, the restored Mustangs would be worthless.
A lawyer for Doug Hasty, the company's founder, said the company has done nothing wrong and that they have proof the vehicles were legally restored. The police, however, believe the company engaged in title-washing, which involves covering up a vehicle's past history by moving the vehicle to a state that does not recognize previous title history.

What a mess for the people that put down hard-earned money for these restored cars.
