2009 Special-Edition Mustangs

More of the Same and then Some

By

In 2009, the Ford Mustang saw few changes. The highlight of the model year was the introduction of a glass-top roof option. As the Mustang celebrated its 45th Anniversary, a majority of the previous model year’s special-edition Mustangs made their way back into the company’s lineup. A new addition for 2009 was the release of the FR500CJ “Cobra Jet” Mustang. The Shelby GT Mustang did not return in 2009 nor did the FR500S Mustang.

Total Production: 2,100
Price: $32,470

In 2009 the Bullitt Mustang returned, pretty much the same car it was in 2008. In all, the new Bullitt Mustang was more powerful than the model released in 2001. Its exhaust note was engineered to mimic the exhaust in the 1968 Mustang GT-390 driven by Steve McQueen in the movie "Bullitt", and it posts a top speed of 151 mph. I took a 2009 Bullitt out for a ride and never wanted to give it back.
