For the fourth year in a row, the team at American Muscle hosted yet another exciting car show featuring Mustangs in every size, shape, and color imaginable. In fact, this year’s “Mustang Only” event brought out more than 1,200 polished Mustangs from all over the country.

In addition to yours truly, the show also attracted well over 4,000 Mustang enthusiasts, from places far and near, making for one day of everything Mustang under the sun.

More than 1,200 Mustangs

The event, which was held at the Delaware County Community College in Media, Penn., ran throughout the day on Sunday August 12, 2012. We arrived shortly before Noon. I was surprised to see how many Mustangs had gathered in one place. As a regular attendee of car shows across the country, I was impressed to say the least. The American Muscle Show appeared to be just as large, if not larger, than some similar shows I’ve attended on the West Coast. It was even larger than a few Mustang Club of America Grand Nationals I’ve attended.

As luck would have it, I drove one of Hertz’s 2012 5.0L GT Mustang Coupes to the show. Hey, a Mustang guy’s gotta travel in style! As I approached the check in gate, the crew at American Muscle waved me through to the show area. I politely told the crew I was only there to look at the cars, not show mine off. The gate attendant smiled and said, “We’ve set up a special parking section for Mustang owners here to check out the show.” What a nice surprise! I thanked him kindly as a forged ahead into the “Mustang Only” parking area. No doubt, I was impressed to say the least. Everywhere I looked I saw Fox Body Mustangs, SN95s, plenty of S197s, even an official Shelby Pace Car and a few SVO Mustangs from the 1980s. I parked my car, grabbed my gear, and was off. Destination, car show madness!

The show took up most of the area surrounding the college campus. Near the top of the campus drive, Mustangs of every type were parked rows deep, leading down to some additional excitement closer to the main campus area. Down there attendees were greeted by the sound of Dueling Dynos, featuring 400+ horsepower cars, as well as “rockin’” tunes provided by a live DJ. American Muscle even brought out some of their Project Mustangs for all to see.

In addition, more than 50 different vendors, such as Ford Racing, Kooks Custom Headers, Pypes Performance Exhaust, and Magnaflow Exahust, were on hand to talk about their parts. Even the folks from ROUSH Performance were on hand, displaying some of their special-edition Ford Mustangs.

Other highlights of the show included the popular Muffler Rapping Challenge, various raffles benefitting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation ($14,000 in total), as well as the ever so popular American Muscle Girls, who were on hand signing autographs, taking pictures, and hanging out with those in attendance.

Discounted Parts at the Show

Even better, those who attended the show were able to place discounted orders for aftermarket Mustang parts available through American Muscle’s website. Those orders were delivered to the attendees at the show a short time later. Enjoy more than 1,200 Mustangs, then go home with some new Mustang aftermarket products. Sounds like a great idea to me!

At the end of the day, American Muscle gave out awards to some of the most spectacular cars in attendance. Some awards included “Best in Class”, “Best Club Participation”, and a “Best in Show Grand Prize Winner.”

No doubt, I had a great time at this year’s show. Clear blue skies and plenty of sunshine definitely helped kick things up a notch. Of course, what really made the show memorable for me were all the great people and the great Mustangs.

As I drove away that evening, I thought about how lucky I am to be a Mustang enthusiast. I also thought about how lucky we enthusiasts are to have companies like American Muscle supporting the aftermarket community.

I’m looking forward to next year’s event. Bring it on!
