SPEED to Award One-of-a-Kind 800+ Horsepower Shelby GT500 HFB Mustang

The SPEED television network, in collaboration with their Hagerty Fantasy Bid & Speed Social Garage, have announced they will award a one-of-a-kind Shelby GT500 Ford Mustang during live coverage of the upcoming Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction, which takes place Tuesday January 15th through Sunday January 20th.

Game play begins Thursday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT and lasts through Sunday, Jan. 20 with 28 fantasy bid cars selected to cross the block throughout the weekend.

The network says that any Hagerty Fantasy Bid contestant who places a fantasy bid is automatically eligible for the giveaway Mustang. A random drawing from all fantasy bid entries throughout the four days of competition determines the winner, which concludes on Sunday, Jan. 20.

That said, as with each Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event and Auction on SPEED, fantasy bidding is only a portion of the interactive and digital opportunities throughout any one of these live auction events. The SPEED Social Garage, live streaming video, live blogging, photo galleries and SPEED.com’s up-to-the-minute coverage of the market and trend lines are designed to offer the audience a unique two-screen experience.

“How phenomenal is it that Ford was able to top last year’s incredible one-of-one Shelby giveaway,” said Rick Miner, SPEED SVP of Production, Network Operations & Executive Producer of Barrett-Jackson. “I’m thinking about quitting my job just so I can enter the contest.”

This will mark SPEED’s second year offering up a GT500 Mustang grand prize to one lucky winner. Arizona resident Chris Cherryholmes was the lucky winner of last year’s drawing.

As for this year’s prize, SPEED says the Shelby GT500 HFB Special Edition Mustang is loaded with numerous performance and aesthetic upgrades. This includes a full Ford Racing lowering kit, Hydraulic Hood struts and Shelby Wheel Company’s Nitto 20x9.5 front and 20x11 Drag Radial rear tires. In all, the car is estimated to produce more than 800 horsepower. Talk about true “speed”!

On the inside you’ll find custom-made front and rear seats feature black suede inserts, black carbon fiber stripes and blue stitching all combining for an attractive outward appeal, while still maintaining Ford’s firm, yet comfortable, driver support structure.

As for performance upgrades, the car features full-length stainless steel headers with high-flow catalytic converters, a Borla exhaust system, high-flow air filter and an Ice Nine modified air intake, which is said to add about 30 additional horsepower. All of these elements are designed to increase efficiency, power and enhance the sound of the car.

On the outside, the GT500 HFB Mustang is sure to attract quite a bit of attention. It features a W2 Graphics’ flat black stripe kit, RTR’s rear license plate surround and Ice Nine’s side splitters, as well as a smoked lens kit. Also included are a custom billet antenna, 3D carbon fender scoops, custom quarter window scoops, quarter panel scoops, billet aluminum Hagerty Fantasy Bid badging and a laser etched, Hagerty logoed gas cap that signifies a Special Edition Mustang.

Winners are awarded points to determine each daily prize winner.

For those that want an additional challenge, contestants and can invite their friends to play among themselves with the all-new league play function.

Players amassing the most points over the four days of Hagerty Fantasy Bid Game play will be declared the Grand Prize winner, a 60-inch Samsung 3D LED HD Smart Television. The overall runner up wins a Microsoft Surface 32 GB tablet while the third-place player receives a 160-gigabyte Sony PS3 Playstation. Four $500 fuel cards are also being awarded for accumulating the most points per day, and a 32-gigabyte Apple iPad mini will be awarded to each of the 28 per-car winners.
