2008 Scottsdale Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction

From Jonathan Lamas, About.com

The 2008 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Collector Car Auction has come and gone, and what an event it was. Although the car did not net as much as many had predicted, Carroll Shelby's 1969 GT-500 Convertible sold for a winning bid of $675,000.

A one-of-a-kind glass roof 2008 Shelby GT500KR was also on the block at this year's show. Car collector Ron Pratte, the same collector who purchased Shelby's 1969 GT-500, went home with the GT500KR for a winning bid of $550,000. Part of his bid went towards a matching Fender Ford Shelby GT500KR Stratocaster guitar. All proceeds from the sale of this car were donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Patrick Dempsey's No. 156 2005 Ford Mustang FR500C race car was also sold for a winning bid of $200,000. Dempsey was on hand at the event signing autographs and talking about his love of all things Ford Mustang with the guys at The SPEED Channel.
