The 2008 Saleen Patriot American Flag Mustang is an extremely limited special-edition Mustang produced by Saleen Automotive. In all, a limited-run of 24 AF (American Flag) supercharged S281 vehicles were created, as a salute to the American military. Specifically, the vehicles were limited in production to 8 red, 8 white, and 8 blue, coinciding with the colors of the American Flag. Special features of the Saleen Patriot American Flag Mustang include a unique graphics package, a 465 hp supercharged engine, tuned suspension, and 20-inch wheels and tires. The vehicle is priced at $49,995 and is set to go on sale at select Saleen certified dealerships nationwide the week of December 25, 2007.
Performance
This supercharged Mustang is powered by a 4.6L 3-Valve SOHC V8 engine. Saleen says the Mustang can achieve 465hp @ 5800 rpm. The engine features a Dual-Stage Water-to-Air Intercooler System, Hi-Flow Inlet Tube, 39 lb/hr fuel injectors, and a Port Matched Series VI Integrated Twin-Screw Supercharger.Rounding out the car is a 5-Speed Manual Transmission riding on high-performance Dunlop Tires and 20-inch chrome finished alloy wheels. The Mustang also features a Tire Pressure Monitoring System.
Exterior
On the outside, the Saleen Patriot AF Mustang features front and rear fascias, rear spoiler and end caps, along with a RF Red Serialized front bumper, serialized engine bay plaque, and Championship Wreath graphic. It also features S281 Supercharged graphics and identification, RF Red Saleen windshield graphic, and a RF Red Saleen bumper insert.
Interior
On the inside, the car sports leather performance driving seats with red stitching, 6-way power adjustable driver's seat and power lumbar support, 6-gauge instrument cluster with 200 mph speedometer, and the Mustang MyColor feature. Other interior features include chrome dash vent bezels, leather-wrapped steering wheel with badge, leather shift boot with red stitching, leather-wrapped billet shift knob & short-throw shifter, performance driving pedals with driver foot brace, and a serialized dash plaque.In keeping with true Mustang tradition, the Saleen Patriot American Flag Edition truly has its own bit of American pride.
The vehicle is set to launch late in the 2007 Holiday season. In a press release, Marques McCammon, General Manager of Saleen Automotive said, "We wanted to take time during the holiday season to honor the men and women that serve our country at home and abroad. Our armed forces represent the best of the American spirit and we want to honor that spirit in our vehicles."
