The First Performance Mustang:
For a brief time in history, the Ford Mustang was an unproven performer. Then the Shelby Mustang, a performance line of Ford Mustangs dreamed up by legendary race car driver Carroll Shelby, came along and changed everything. The world of the muscle car has never been the same.
Shelby helped to define Mustang performance in the 1960s by creating Mustangs that could perform well both on and off the track. Some famous Shelby Mustangs include the Shelby GT350, the Shelby GT350H Hertz "Rent-A-Racer", and the Shelby GT500KR.
Most recently Shelby brought back its classic GT350 Mustang for the 2011 model-year.
