Modifications and Features
2010 Mustang GT Premium coupe. Factory options: comfort package, security package, HID headlights, 5-speed manual, and Track-Pak option. The local Ford dealer installed a rear deck lid spoiler, quarter window louvers, and rear brake scoops. The exterior trim finished out the car. Modifications completed so far include a K&N air filter with Ford Racing Calibrations, and a XR-1 Borla Cat-Back Exhaust system, which sounds great! Modifications that are in process include a 14-inch front and rear brake rotors upgrade along with Baer GT Plus Calipers.
What makes it special?
In the early '70s I purchased a 1967 Mustang fastback with a 429 from a friend who had died in a separate car accident. Yeah, it was a real “Eleanor”. The car reminded his father of his son’s death.
At the time, I was already driving a ‘72 Chevelle with a 454. Being young and with a limited budget, I could not afford the car insurance on both cars. So I kept the Chevelle and sold the Mustang. Big mistake! Now that I am more mature, but still young at heart, my wife and I have been looking at Mustangs for the past 4 years. We both felt that is was time to get back into our own Mustang. Why new and not a classic? Well, we both agreed that a new Mustang would be part of creating our own legacy to the resurgence of this century’s muscle car era. A real "Eleanor" is out of my price range and I believe it is becoming overused. Once you have owned the real thing, replicas are not the same.
Our new 2010 Mustangs’ name is “SEPHIRA”. It is the name of the dragon in the book and movie “Eragon”. The Kona Metallic Blue color is amazing, just like the dragon in the movie. The car is a beautiful magical blue in the sun, purple at dusk or dawn, and black at night. The factory installed race car suspension provides fantastic road feel and input through the steering wheel. The car has styling cues from my youth with the Mustangs of the early seventies. The great factory exhaust notes coming from the car are good; now even better from the Borla system.
Before the snow flew in the Midwest in 2009, I tracked the car at our local road course breaking it in right at a “Hooked on Driving” event. I recommend this organization to anyone who wants to drive their car to its limits safely. Today’s streets and laws are not like the '70s and it is no longer prudent to drive spiritedly on public streets.
