Ford Mustang Has Staying Power
Monday June 2, 2008
This weekend I found myself talking to a guy who was convinced the Ford Mustang is making a comeback. Making a comeback? The Mustang never went away. When I told him the car has been produced annually since its introduction in 1964, he was at a loss. "No, I'm sure Ford took the Mustang off the market for a while. I remember reading it in the paper." Obviously, this guy gets his news from the land of make believe. The Mustang's staying power is one of the reasons I admire the car so much. Even in the '70s when gas prices were at all time highs (sound familar?), the Ford Mustang remained. In fact, Lee Iacocca referred to the Mustang of the day as his "Little Jewel." The car, the Mustang II, was released in 1974. The car was able to succeed in tough economic times while conforming to the latest industry standards. With gas prices at all time highs again, is another Mustang II style vehicle in Ford's future?

Looks like they have plans to make a smaller Mustang according to the Autoweek piece. Glad it won’t be for 2010. Looks like it will be the next generation Mustang that will be smaller.
Hey Steve. According to the report, “Overall length and width [of the 2010 Mustang] are the same as those of the 2008 Mustang.” It will “look smaller”, but the car won’t be smaller.
