Mustang Sales Pick Up in July by .3%
I'm happy to report Ford sold more Mustangs in July 2008 than they did in July 2007. That's right, the downward spiral has turned around. At least for a month.
This July Ford sold 10,711 Mustangs. In July of 2007 Ford sold 10,684 Mustangs. That's a gain of, well, about .3 percent. Okay, true, it's not a huge gain, but you know what? It's a gain. The first we've seen this year.
Word on the street is people are looking for something new in a Mustang, hence the decline in sales this year. After all, there have been very few changes since 2005. That is, until the 2009 model was released. The 2009 Mustang features a glass-top roof option as well as 45th Anniversary Edition badging. Now that 2009 Mustangs are making their way to dealerships across the country, I imagine people are starting to buy them up. Of course, next year we should see even bigger changes when the 2010 Mustang hits the street. Stay tuned. Maybe we'll see another increase in sales next month.
In all, sales of the Ford Mustang are still down 25.3 % for the year. Last year at this time Ford had sold 88,025 units. This year they've only sold 65,764.
