Mustang Club Raises Money For a Good Cause

A while back I mentioned the car wash the Gulfshore Mustang Club put together to raise money for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Florida. I'm happy to report the event was a big success for all involved.

In fact, just last week club members John P. Danius, Richard Hayman, and Dean Hillestad gave the winner of the group's recent model car building contest a Mustang escort to the airport. Honorary club members Justyn (a "Little" in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of SW Florida Program) and his "Big Brother" Dave Moll built a '66 Shelby Cobra that was the 1st Place winner in the local competition hosted by the club. The club invited Big Brothers Big Sisters of SW Florida program members to participate in the competition.

In honor of the achievement, Justyn and his mother won a trip to the Hagerty Finals held in Monterey, Calif. during Concours d'Elegance week. Hagerty Classic Car Insurance covered the cost of airfare and accommodations. The club used some of the money generated at the car wash to cover additional expenses such as a camera for Justyn to use on his trip.

I have to admit, I always love hearing stories of Mustang enthusiasts giving back to their communities. It reminds me of a point I've made time and time again. It's not just about the cars with Mustang enthusiasts. It's about family, friends, and celebrating a car that has brought so many people together.
