In early November, official order guides for the 2014 Ford Mustang began to surface. The model year, which is to be the last for the current Ford Mustang S197 platform, will feature minimal changes over the 2013 model year. Aside from a few exterior color changes, and a few package updates, there are no interior updates to the car, and there are no functional equipment changes.

In addition, the special-edition Boss 302 Mustang will not be returning to the company’s lineup. Similar to the classic Boss 302 (1969 and 1970 model years), the car has been limited to a production run of two years. Ford plans to completely revamp the Ford Mustang in 2015.

Exterior Color Changes

Several exterior colors will no longer be available for the 2014 Mustang, while several new exterior colors will be offered as replacements. The colors no longer being offered are Boss 302's School Bus Yellow, High Performance White and Red Candy Metallic. New colors for the 2014 model year are Oxford White (YZ) and Ruby Red Metallic with Tinted Clearcoat (RR).

New Colors Added:

  • Oxford White (YZ)
  • Ruby Red Metallic with Tinted Clearcoat (RR)
Colors Deleted:

  • Red Candy Metallic with Tinted Clearcoat
  • High Performance White
  • School Bus Yellow – Boss® exclusive

  • Painted Black Decklid Spoiler
  • Quarter Window Louvres
  • 18” Painted Black Aluminum Wheel
V8 Appearance Package/FP8:

V6 Model Features

The 2014 V6 Ford Mustang will once again be powered by a 3.7L 4V Ti-VCT V6 Engine, matched with a 6-speed manual transmission on base models. As with the previous model year, you’ll find a Easy Fuel Capless fuel-filler cap, standard Rear-window Defroster, and MyKey technology which allows parents to limit speed and audio volume to encourage teens to drive safer.

Other features include a Dark Chrome Pony in grille, a dual exhaust with Bright Rolled Exhaust Tips, HID Head Lamps as standard equipment, and LED Sequential Tail Lamps. Unlike the base V6 Mustang, the GT also comes equipped with LED Fog Lamps. The car also features body-color, dual power side mirrors with Integrated blind spot mirrors. Air conditioning comes standard on all GTs, and each Mustang features a full armrest with locking storage compartment.

In addition to the Tech package and the Reverse Sensing System & Security Package, which are both offered on the V6 model Mustang, the GT Mustang has its own optional package offerings. Pricing and Availability

Pricing for the 2014 model year Mustang is as follows: The V6 coupe starts at $22,200, while the V6 Convertible has a starting price of $27,200. The V6 Premium coupe starts at $26,300, while its convertible counterpart has an MSRP of $31,300. The base GT coupe starts at $30,900, while the GT Premium coupe is $35,000. The GT base convertible starts at $35,900, while the Premium Convertible starts at $40,000. The Shelby GT500 Mustang, coupe model, starts at $54,800. The convertible version starts at $59,800. While many expected to see some form of 50th Anniversary badging or package offerings for the 2014 model year, Ford is likely reserving this for the 2015 model year. While Ford did release the first Mustang in April of 1964, it was technically a 1965 model year car, which makes the 2015 model year the 50th Anniversary model. Of note the Shelby GT500 Mustang will be returning for the 2014 model year.
